Is this plastic? Argh... that's a fine for me!

What do you think?

I think it might be aluminium foil, with paper on the inside - and laminated outside.  Drat!  That's a pound fine for me then - this is the only butter not in a plastic box in my local store, and I was halfway through cooking when I realised I needed more.  no chance to jump on my bike to the bigger supermarket where they have wax paper wrapped butter.

So - Jan is on £2 for fines (he bought some cheese from LJ Mellis and it came in a plastic wrap, and  a 4 pack of Grolsch which he then realised had plastic round the top... this is tough!!).  I'm also on £2 for above mentioned butter.  Doh.

Drinks at the end of the month should be good!!    How is everyone else doing?!

  2. We are up to £4 - yogurt, cottage cheese, arugula and fresh flowers (I know what you are thinking and yes, I should be fined £2 for this last item alone). Yogurt and cottage cheese will continue to be problematic and contribute much to our end-of-month drinks round.

  4. Think Team Canafrica is also in a similar situation. Haven't bought any plastic yet, (oh, wait, rice milk counts and I caved for cafe caffeine during a break in an 8 hour meeting...so £2 it is, not to mention buying dog food which is plastic coated bags all the way...£3...Hmmm, feeling less virtous as I write) but we're also surviving off pre-challenge stock as well as easily obtained items from Morrisons this weekend. Think we'll be hitting Broughton this weekend....especially since toilet roll is running low!

  5. Wait, Ms. B, have you found plastic-free loo roll? WHERE? Real Foods had none.

  7. I was considering stealing toilet paper from the office. Does that count if has been taken out of the plastic packaging by someone else?
